I began shooting professionally in 2008 for the Elk Grove Citizen after my husband and I moved from Los Angeles to Sacramento. I discovered photography in college; learning the basics on a film camera, in a black and white darkroom...my first love. Admiring photographers like Irving Penn and Garry Winogrand, I knew the kind of photographer I wanted to be.
Photojournalism has always been a good fit for me as I love the fast paced nature of breaking news. As a photojournalist I get the chance to tell the story of those around me, to capture the face of someone in pain or delight.
As I continue to grow as a person, so does my photography; constantly learning. After a major life change, I began hiking more and traveling abroad. Learning to live quietly in the hectic moments and see nature in the changing light, has altered the kind of photographer I am today.
I look forward to the future, to what my camera and I see next.
I am currently based in, but not limited to Sacramento
